Israel Chemicals Ltd. develops, manufactures, markets, and sells fertilizer and specialty chemicals worldwide. The company operates in three segments: Fertilizers, Industrial Products, and Performance Products. The Fertilizers segment mines, processes, and produces potash and phosphate rock; produces sulfuric acid agricultural phosphate acid, phosphate and compound fertilizers, and liquid and soluble fertilizers; and slow-release and controlled-release fertilizers, and phosphate-based food additives. The Industrial Products segment produces elemental bromine; bromine-based compounds; flame retardants and other-phosphorous-based products; clear brines; soil and space fumigation products; bromine and chlorine-based biocides for water treatment, and calcined and specialty magnesia products; and functional fluids, salts, and inorganic bromides for neutralization of mercury. The Performance Products segment processes agricultural phosphoric acids to produce downstream products. Its products include food grade and technical grade phosphoric acids, phosphate salts, food phosphates, food additives, ingredient specialties, disinfectants, and cleaning products. This segment also produces phosphorus derivatives, blends, fire extinguishment and flame retardant products, specialty products based on aluminum oxide, and other raw materials; and pharmaceutical and cosmetic ingredients, thermoplastic materials, and synthetic gypsum, as well as alumina and other chemicals for industrial applications. In addition, Israel Chemicals Ltd. is involved in the desalination of water; and production and sale of pure magnesium and magnesium alloys. Its products are primarily used in agricultural, electronics, food products, oil and gas drilling, water purification and desalination, paper, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, automotive, and aluminum industries. The company was founded in 1968 and is based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Israel Chemicals Ltd. is a subsidiary of Israel Corporation Ltd.
